“Most People Don’t Want The Freedom Adventure Travel Brings (They Want Comfort)”

Does this sound a bit harsh…

But I don’t believe most people actually want freedom or at least the freedom adventure travel brings.

I think they want:
- the idea of it

Because real freedom looks like:

  • uncertainty
  • discomfort
  • not knowing what happens next

And most people don’t want that.

They want:

  • stability
  • predictability
  • something that feels safe

Which is completely fair to say.

And it creates this weird tension where people say:

- “I want to travel, I want to reset my life, I want something different…”

But their actions stay the same.

I’ve caught myself in that too, on more than one occasion.

So I think the real question is:

- do you actually want freedom…

or do you just like the idea of it?

No judgement either way.

Just curious how people see it.

This might sound wrong… but maybe you don’t need fixing, maybe you just need to get away from it all...

https://preview.redd.it/94cy3ebfuhzg1.jpg?width=2121&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f81ad108a23e2455c21c9333e19a1017376a213e

I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

We’re told that when something feels off in life, we should:

  • work on ourselves
  • fix our mindset
  • dig deeper

And I’m not saying that’s wrong.

But I wonder sometimes…

- what if the problem isn’t you?

What if it’s:

  • your environment
  • your routine
  • the same four walls
  • the same conversations

Because I’ve noticed something.

People don’t always “heal” by thinking harder. Sometimes they change when they:

  • move
  • see something different or experience life outside their normal

Not as an escape.

As a reset.

I’ve seen people come back from travel calmer, clearer, more themselves, that includes me too.

Not because everything was perfect…

But because they had space.

- They had a purpose that involved nothing else.

- Focused on problems where nothing else got in the way.

- Where they couldn't afford to hide away and hope the problem would solve itself.

So I’m curious, do you think some people or yourself don’t need fixing…
they just need distance?

Does anyone else feel like everywhere worth seeing has turned into a tourist attraction?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

It feels like any place that’s:

  • beautiful
  • quiet
  • different

…doesn’t stay that way for long.

Someone finds it.
Shares it.
It blows up.

And suddenly:

  • there’s a queue for the “perfect photo”
  • cafés turn into Instagram spots
  • and the whole place feels… different

https://preview.redd.it/oa5ndc23u4zg1.jpg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=583c9f632e7086aba2f929f10672e855f395d9d6

I’m not even blaming anyone.

I’m part of it too.

We all want to:

  • see something real
  • experience something different

But it makes me wonder—

Are we actually chasing places -
or the idea of what they used to feel like?

It is great when you find something special and your the only one experiencing it. Yes.. that's brilliant but you do want to share it, because we loving sharing our experiences. However, it is getting rarer to find an attraction that doesn't have an exit through a gift shop.

Wouldn't it be nice to go into a USA national park without queuing to pay first?

I don’t know.

Just something I’ve noticed.

- Is there anything you would blame this on, such as; world population boom or even a less respectful society?

- What's your view?

Have you ever gone somewhere and thought,
“this probably used to feel very different”?

The scenic route is the wisdom route

Not going to lie… some parts of adventure travel are rough

This probably won’t get said enough here…

But yeah - some parts of travel are uncomfortable.

You get tired, really tired.
Things don’t go to plan and you fill there's no way out of it.
You often question what you’re doing.

I’ve had moments where I thought:

  • “what the hell am I actually doing here?”

But weirdly…

Those moments are also the ones that stay with you the most.

They change you, for the better.

It’s not perfect.

It’s real.

So I’m curious—

- would that put you off… or does it make it feel more real?

I think this is what people really fear… When they put off leaving on their travels

Having no regrets

Not failing.

Not things going wrong.

I think most people are quietly afraid of this:

  • “What if I never do it?” - In a way they are already talking themselves out of it.

Not in a dramatic way.

Just… years pass.

Life fills up.
Responsibilities grow.
And that idea slowly fades into:

“yeah, I always wanted to…”

I’ve met people like that.

And there’s always this small pause when they talk about it.

So I’m curious:

does that thought ever cross your mind?

If you could be anywhere

Not your dream “one day” trip.

Not the perfect plan.

Just realistically.

If something in your life shifted tomorrow
and you said “right, I’m going…”

  • where would you go first?

I’m always curious about this because people overcomplicate it.

They try to plan:

  • 10 countries
  • 3 months
  • every detail
  • and then pack for every scenario

And it stops them from even picking one place.

But starting is usually just that.

One place.
One decision.
One step.

So no pressure, no judgement -

  • where would you actually go?

The “Overthinking Trap”

You watch travel videos.
Read travel blogs.
Scroll forums.

You research online and seen lots of outdoor adventures videos on YouTube.

And somehow…

👉 You feel LESS ready than when you started.

https://preview.redd.it/987yhsftv6xg1.jpg?width=430&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c416664c1a305478625b495afb0893b385f19c62

That’s not your fault.

There’s too much information.

And most of it:

  • Contradicts itself
  • Is outdated
  • Or doesn’t apply to you

So you keep researching…

And never leave.

At some point, you don’t need more information.

👉 You need a simple plan.

Be honest:

👉 How long have you been “thinking about travelling to your dream destinations”?
