Dr Dimitriadi - The Seymour Clinic experience

Hi girls! I’m hoping this post will help some people out as I know I struggled to find peoples experiences with Dr Dimitriadi or people that were willing to share their experiences!

Why I got it done

Around ten years ago I had a cyst on my labia which I left too long to get treated and essentially the skin became stretched. As the years went on, the skin continued to get saggier and it got more uncomfortable to wear certain underwear and pants so I stopped wearing thongs and tight jeans. Shaving was also harder. I was also self conscious of it and so labiaplasty surgery was on my mind for a while.

Consult + Booking

I initially emailed Dr Dimitriadi’s clinic and got a response really quick - within a couple days and had an online video call with her that week. She was incredibly nice, warm and asked a little bit about what I was after and why I wanted it done - I explained to her my situation as I wasn’t sure if it was a common thing she had seen. She advised it would be best for me to come in so she can assess in person to see how much the skin had stretched and what could be done.

I went into her clinic the following week I believe and she was just as lovely in person as she was over the phone - she advised that a unilateral labiaplasty would be my best option. She discussed what we can achieve, complications, her earliest surgery dates (as I wanted it done asap). She sent me a follow up email the day after I believe and I then booked in my appointment with her in the New Year, as this was all just before Christmas.

Pricing/Costs

I was quoted £2,500 for unilateral labiaplasty. I also had to buy two boxes of dressings (£17 each) and iodine (£10) recommended by the Dr following my concern about an infection/split. I bought some saline solution to wash myself with which was around £5. I bought some baggy boxer shorts too which were around £10.

On the day

I believe my appointment was originally booked in for 14.30 but I got an email the day before to state my time had changed to 16.15. I arrived at the clinic way ahead of time and was taken into the waiting room on my own pretty soon after I arrived. I basically just sat on my phone scrolling while waiting. The assistant came in a few times - initially to get me to complete a couple forms, give me some medication (antiobiotics and tranexamic acid) and then lastly for the numbing cream. The assistant was so lovely and she was amazing at unintentionally calming me down. I ate some more biscuits before being told I could come into the operating room.

The actual operation

For background, I am a VERY nervous person when it comes to hospitals and medical stuff. I felt really anxious when I was in the waiting room and there was a point when I thought I’m not going to follow through with this. The assistant definitely made a massive difference to my anxiety. I took in my phone and AirPods as I knew I would need a distraction as it was under local anaesthetic. I didn’t freak out anywhere near as much as I would while in there, the assistant and Dr Dimitriadi were both great and I think it helped being on my phone. I had a couple numbing injections which weren’t too bad, similar to a regular arm injection and then I was told to sit as still as possible. I didn’t feel anything at all until the last maybe 15 minutes where I think the numbing was wearing off and the Dr was doing my stitches - I just advised her of this and she gave me another injection which helped. The stitching was for sure the worst bit as it just felt like intense pressure from the inside if that makes sense. The Dr took lots of pictures on my phone so I could see what she had done and also gave me a mirror so I could see and I was very happy already (although swollen!!). The whole thing from start to finish took maybe just under an hour.

Recovery

I didn’t have anyone to pick me up or help me back to the station/my flat which I will admit was really tricky. Going up the stairs at Stratford was hard af and what usually takes me a 3 minute walk from the train station to my place took me 40 minutes because it was really uncomfortable and I couldn’t walk up stairs properly. I wouldn’t say at any point I was in pain but it was just extreme discomfort. In hindsight I should have absolutely gotten an uber or asked a friend instead (I had a family member bail on me).

The following days after surgery I didn’t feel too bad at all, I was just conscious of how I was sitting and what I was wearing if it was too tight. I am a very active person so not going to the gym was hard for me but I did go for walks from day two and went to a concert on day four (in hindsight this definitely wasn’t the best decision). I took the antiobiotics course given to me and finished up the other medication too (Tranexamic Acid). I’m on mounjaro and didn’t have any issues with taking antiobiotics at the same time (I was concerned about this). Recovery was pretty much plain sailing until I got an infection. I didn’t have sex or do anything in my recovery time.

Infection/Split

It was roughly three to four weeks after surgery (I think) when I noticed that I was getting a bit sore to wear jeans and I just generally felt a bit under the weather. I messaged Dr Dimitriadi and said I think something is wrong because it doesn’t look right and it’s a bit sore. She was originally going to call me instantly but got stuck in an emergency appointment and messaged me when I woke up the following morning - that time felt like forever when I was spiralling about it but in reality I couldn’t have done anything about it in that time anyway and she quickly advised what I needed to do and buy which was iodine cotton buds and some special dressings from Amazon. She then asked me to go into the clinic in a few days time. She applied some really strong antiseptic (?) on the wound and it just felt really hot and stingy but it was over really quick. Dr Dimitriadi said I won’t need antibiotics for now and to keep up with what she has recommended me do. I’d say after a week I was feeling much better and the soreness went away pretty quick. I have not had any problems since.

Post op life

I am now roughly 2-3 months post op and am very happy with my results. I do think maybe a little bit too much was taken away but I am still very very happy. The scar will fade in time and I think it will only get better. I have attached some pictures of my recovery. I’m really glad I went through the surgery.
