I'm a grad student, and over the next few semesters, I will have to take beginner/intermediate courses in a niche foreign language. I was wondering if anyone who has experience studying languages at OSU could tell me what to expect from those kinds of courses? Are the professors generally helpful? Do you feel like you actually got a good knowledge of the language?

FWIW, the foreign language department at my undergrad was not great, so I have low expectations, but I've heard that it is better here, and I was wondering if that's true.
