Random headcannon lore: in great war because of the shitty situation of logistics of Ottoman empire the union and progress society give permission to use musul and baku petrols for their flammability and Ottoman invented the firethrowers years before west.
The reason of Streetcleaners can parry the projectile's are they made to counter British tanks shells.
Also after war they used for purification of sick people with viruses.
