Tired of double standards regarding purity culture.

Lately, I’ve been seeing an absurd number of posts, comments, and even DMs after engaging in discussions about how women should “remain pure,” how sex before marriage is apparently a sin only for women, how a woman with a past “disgusts” men, and how modern women are all “used up” and just trying to settle for “nice guys” later. Some of these people get disgusted over women having past relationships at all. Apparently, only virgins deserve a “safe environment,” while every independent or modern woman is automatically labeled “dumb” or “problematic.”

The constant objectification is genuinely exhausting. Of course people are allowed to have preferences, but there’s a massive difference between personal preference and outright sl*tshaming women for having agency over their own lives.

What really gets me is the hypocrisy. I recently saw a post from a man saying he wanted to enter his “hoe phase” now and settle down later. It had dozens of upvotes and people cheering him on. But if a woman said the exact same thing, the comments would be flooded with lectures about “purity,” insults, concerns for her “future husband,” and full-on moral policing.

I genuinely cannot understand how the double standards between men and women have become this extreme. Who keeps feeding these ideas into society? And since when did a woman having choices or autonomy become equivalent to being a sl*t? The moment you point out the hypocrisy, they immediately resort to the exact same shaming tactics they claim are “morally justified.”

Every day I come across double standards online, but this one genuinely takes the cake.

PS. Just a rant. Wanted this off my chest.

Simply a vent. Not looking for advice or anything else. I'm just so tired of seeing the mentality of some men both online and irl. Everyday I keep hearing things like "women with a past disgust me" or I just saw a post saying "every woman is misandrist, never save them if they're in trouble, they deserve it for hating men". They're fine with hating women but hating men disgusts them? Why is basic humanity and empathy even a gender based thing? If I see a man in trouble I'll try to help, not caring if he's a misogynist or what not. What's so hard to understand about it? The fact that "the women of my house know where not to go and which circumstances to avoid so they'll never get in trouble" as if that makes sense? Irl I see men talking about how women are the worst creatures to exist (???) and how it's pointless to talk with them as if they're mother didn't suffer the pain of pregnancy and childbirth to birth them? They're also the first people to want a wife or girlfriend. Where is this hate even coming from. I'm so tired of it all, especially as an empathetic person. I wish I could just turn off my brain or stop interacting with men but is simply not possible. I'm so tired and scared of living as a woman, fearing if by some bad luck i turn into the direct target for this hate. I don't understand. Why is it so hard to just live as humans without these stupid gender divides.
