M5 Apple chip support frustration

I'm more and more in need to buy a new computer. I've been wanting to buy a new MBP as these new M5 machines look very capable. The first of those machine came out in October iirc.

Avid site states:

> "Apple M5–series computers are currently unsupported and have known issues. We are actively working on qualification and will provide an update as soon as the process is complete.

>Please note that there are known issues that may impact the supported computers listed below when running macOS Sequoia and Tahoe."

So it's been 7 months with no support for the last Apple chip, and even longer (I believe Sequoia has been out since 2024) for full support, no asterisks, for the operating system.

Man this is depressing really.

Suggestion for contact mic for simple foley work

Reposting this here as I see crossposting seems not allowed. I've asked this also in the audioengineering sub.

I've been asked to record some sounds coming from mechanical stuff, one of the ideas was getting those sounds also with contact mics. I do have shitty diy piezos (50ç stuff), but I wanted to get something flatter and decent sounding. I'm also not planning to make a career out of it, so nothing too fancy or expensive.

For example, Thomann has a range of Schertler mics which are all well above 500€ and they look like the real deal but way above my needs. They then have a bunch of other mics below 100€, (like for instance Leaf Audio, TAP, KNA and others) but these are mostly unbalanced jack out and seem to be aimed to be used as acoustic instrument pickups, and amplified, so no idea if they're too noisy for foley work and if they'd be ok as recording mics (maybe through a DI?).

I've seen that the Cortado mic is often suggested but it would be a little longer to get one compared to places like Thomann.

Anybody has better suggestions or even ideas about what contact mic could work well in such a scenario? Thanks.

Stuck fingers?

This is a new entry, it's been a couple of weeks that my fingers (in particular middle and ring finger) get like "stuck".

It feels like a tendon is in the way when I try to close my fist, like there's something in the finger that blocks it, and it makes those 2 fingers "snap" in position. Especially if I close my fist, it's kinda hard to reopen the hand, because those 2 fingers are stuck. It's not really painful, or at least not like the other typical rheumatoid pain I get, but it's obnoxiously annoying it feels awful and strange to just use the hands.

Has anybody had something like that? Did you find anything that could help or that gives you any relief?

I've been watching the Madrid Open of tennis and there's this cable to a 416 on court that's been there dangling too tight for the whole week that's irking me to no end.

This is a professional rental that sets up broadcast mics like that? It's ugly on the aesthetic side (have the goddam cable follow down the stand) and it's also wrong from a technical side, that thing is asking to be pulled.
