New still from Nika King’s deleted scene in S03E06
I’m wondering if this is when Bishop visits her, since it’s not the same outfit she’s wearing during the phone call.
That damn slap making Rue turn to god and rethink her entire life 😭
Some thoughts on Rue’s (possible) fate
I know another redditor already pointed out the obvious parallel between Rue’s phone call with her mom saying she’d be home soon and the scene in Requiem for a Dream, where the character says the same thing and never actually makes it home. After rewatching the episode last night, I agree that something about that phone call felt very final. Like Rue was indirectly asking for her forgiveness, and her mom was giving it to her. I know we’ll see Leslie again in the finale, but now I’m genuinely starting to wonder if it could be for Rue’s funeral 😔 I really don’t think they’ll ever see each other again. That would also explain Elliot showing up in the finale, because narratively it wouldn’t make any sense for him to randomly appear otherwise.
Something that just hit me though… What if Rue really dies and the last interaction she ever has with Jules is that awful scene from last episode? That would absolutely gut me 😫 Like, if that ends up being the last thing Jules ever says to her, the guilt would probably haunt her for the rest of her life. Which honestly, atp might finally force some accountability and character development on her part because holy shit, she really sucks this season.
Weekly Discussion: S03E13 "It's Getting Hot in Here"
Welcome to our weekly re-watch discussion board! Today we'll be discussing the thirteenth episode of Season 3:
It's Getting Hot in Here
Original Air Date: Jan 30, 2011
Naomi, Adrianna, Silver and Annie decide to have a girls' weekend and head to a yoga retreat in Ojai.
Annie invites her cousin Emily along for the weekend but Emily decides that it's time to steal Annie's "Perfect" Beverly Hills life.
Not HBO Max trying to make a funny edit out of this scene 😭
Nika King reacting to her lines being cut from episode 6
I can’t believe they filmed the entire phone call between Rue and her mom as a two-sided conversation, and then Sam decided to cut all of her mom’s lines except for one so we could only hear Rue. Like, goddamnit, this woman cannot win lol At least she has a sense of humor about it though 🤣
I’ll give them this: Hans Zimmer’s score was genuinely beautiful in this scene.
I’ll even forgive the fuck ass music that played over Nate’s scene in this episode, because this was legitimately good
As a former Jules fan/apologist, I’m officially done with her after this episode.
Congrats Sam Levinson, you managed to make her so unlikable and narratively useless this season that I genuinely wish she just wasn’t on the show at all. It’s frustrating watching a character who once had so much depth get reduced to this.
