Unusual episode S8 - E4

Im still in my rewatching and made it through the Leviathans, you guys were right, it wasn’t that bad.
Now in season 8 and got to episode 4 which is the university warevoles.
It’s made like an indie film with hand held cams. And as much as I like the idea, it just makes me dizzy watching it.
I did like the mix up of our usual script though. And interesting was of course they let the girl get away. Which I think she does deserve a chance to live a „sober“ life.
Anyhow, I like these little islands of change. But just not with so much shaking 🫨😅
What did you guys think?

The past weeks I have been pretty obsessed with scammer true crime podcasts. And thanks to this community here, I found some really good ones, that I pretty much binged. What can I say, Im an addict.

After going trough a rougher time in private, I felt I needed to get away a bit from the murder and all. So I started listening to different kinda crimes, like cults, financial and eventually scammers. Started with Love Janessa, and also a german podcast about the nigerian love scammers. Which I found quite interesting. The thought of Africa getting their money back from the white people after they have colonized, enslaved and are robbing the african continent was a very interesting thought train, that was mentioned in the german podcast. But I am sidetracking from what I actually want to talk about.

My last podcasts were/are:

  • Love trapped
  • Eliesabeth
  • Scamander
  • Unicorn Girl
  • The salt path BBC / The walkers (two different podcasts on the same topic)
  • Kaitlyns Baby

These are all horrendous storys. The harm that was caused to the victims are sometimes similar and sometimes so very different and just cruel. I am still so shocked about the Afghanistan people being played.

Whith all these podcasts I was missing one thing, and that was an explanation. Until I finished the Kaitlyns Baby one today. Here finally they had doctors for an interview that would give a possible diagnosis and give some form of explanation why these people do it, and if they even know what harm they are causing. Unfortunately they didnt give an explanation to, why the mother is playing along and even facilitating the whole thing. In other podcasts it was a husband for example in the Walkers, or Scamander.

It is just so interesting whats going on with these people, and how early the lies are starting. Its really often in the childhood.

What are your thouhts on it, do you think the mental ilness is an excuse for the behaviour?

Also Im very grateful for similar podcasts reccommendations. Or non murder true crime podcasts with long format.

After the podcast being recommended here over and over again I binge listened this weekend to it and just finished.

I am shooketh!!!

How do people do this? And go to this extent, lie in front of court and fake evidence.

I had to think about the podcast love trapped and also the case of the apple cider vinegar show on Netflix.

The lying to such an extent is incomprehensible for me and all the people and mental health that get harmed. I feel so bad for all the victims.

Why do people do it? Is it Münchhausen?

Also: one point that got me, it’s said multiple times in the podcast that lying is not illegal, but lying in court surely is. Can’t they charge her for that? Also maybe a diffarmation case by the hospitals and Nancy and alida?

I know you can just put on a YouTube Yoga video at home. But that just doesnt do it for me. At home its just way harder to motivate myself to do this. Plus I prefer a real yoga teacher giving hands on adjustments. And also its just a different atmosphere.

So in 2017 I really wanted to start doing yoga, for my back and my mental health. So I started looking into studios near me and was directly kinda bummed by the prices. But I found a note on the website bottom, where they were looking for "Karmis", which are people that open the studio and do the check in process, make sure everything is sorted and close at the end. For this service to the yoga studio they get to participate this class for free. I was so happy and messaged right away. And since then I have one weekly class in this studio I take care of. There is a whats app group to find substitutes, as one of course isnt available always. So with the substitute group you can also take over other classes. And since a couple of years I also started doing this in another studio. So im doing 2-3 yoga classes each week free of charge, for just the little extra time. Its so nice and has become a bit of a community. You also get to do Karmi for events sometimes, or get reduced prices on workshops.

I am located in Germany, but as I learned this concept comes from the indian ashrams, I would assume its done similar in other parts of the world as well.

So if you think you cant pay for yoga, maybe check out some studios near you. And if they dont have it on the website, just message them. Thats what I did with the second studio.

And the big plus for me, this "responibility" of - I have to be there and open the studio - really helped me in actually going to yoga. No late cancellation because I dont feel like it. And also while im there all by myself prepping, its kind of already getting into the mood and a kind of transition from busy everyday life into my yoga break.

Thought Ill share, if anybody wants to see if thats available in their area.

Do you know of similar ways to safe money?

Talking to a friend the other day I realised I grew up with being super aware of energy and water consumption. It has become second nature to me nowadays. So I thought I’ll share here and maybe you have more idea:

Water:

  • turn off water while brushing tooth
  • turn off water during shower while washing hair or soaping
  • don’t flush toilet for night pee, or when you live alone not every pee use
  • also I dont buy drinking water and use the tap, with soda stream to make bubble water. But this depends on your water situation and quality
  • take waterbottle from home and don’t buy water when outside

Electricity

  • unplug coffe machine or other devices as they still pull energy even when turned off.
  • use kill switch with remote for tv setup for same purpose.
  • even unplug internet router when out of house, it pulls a lot.
  • use rechargeable batteries (can recharge out of house ;) )
  • charge phone at work or in public places, also battery bank
  • use eco programme
  • only use full washing machine
  • air dry clothes, don’t use dryer especially in summer
  • turn down heating a degree or two and wear more clothes or use hot water bottles
  • if possible with heating system, adjust heating to when you are home, turn down at night or when out of house.
  • don’t leave lights on in rooms you don’t use

Do you guys have more tips on saving here?
