Went to my dealership yesterday to 'test drive' my 2025 on stop sale. The dealership is 225 miles from my home, and over the past 4-5 months of the stop sale, my sales guy and his boss have been more than accommodating, realizing that the only one in worse shape than the dealership are their customers who have money down, namely me.
I had called my sales guy a number of times before, telling him I wanted to come up, put some more money down on deposit, and take a test spin. I arrived as scheduled, he was working on delivering a side by side to another buyer, so I patiently waited my turn.
When we had a chance to talk, he said he'd bring the bike around, so I'm wandering around the dealership. His boss who I had said hello to earlier while my sales guy was with the other customers asked if all was OK, and I said, yep, my guy is getting the 300L out for me to test ride. His eyes opened up, and he sat me down at a table and started to tell me a long story about his buddy who had a recall on a Ridgeline. We laughed and joked, they know they are in a tight spot and feel terrible about it.
My guy gets the bike brought around and has it idling for me in front of the shop. I suit up with layers, vest, custom painted helmet and googles, and jump on. As I'm leaving I said 'Just so you know, I won't be back for a while.' He smiles and says: have a good ride.
I was out for 45 minutes on a range of pavement, dirt and sand. Fueled the bike up, got a bottle of water. Had a great time and had a grin from ear to ear when I got back.
I'm sidelined waiting for the CRF 300L stop sale to be lifted. Broke out some automotive lacquers and my airbrush and masking tape. This started as an all black helmet. Not perfect, but I'm pretty damned happy with it.
