What to look for in a Laser tech/Med spa job?

I’ve been working at a corporate wax studio for a year and a half now, and problems with the overall environment have made me decide to leave soon. Estheticians and Laser hair techs of reddit, what should I look out for when applying to a new job??

I’m not looking to strike out on my own yet, I live in a big city so suite prices and machines are very high, and I’d like to gain some experience in a larger setting first. What are some red/green flags to look out for on job listings? I got my laser license in Georgia about a year ago so I would love to put that to good use, but I feel so ignorant on what I should even be looking for? Same thing with a medspa, if I’m not able to do laser, what kind of standards should I hold employers to?

Things I’m specifically curious about:

* Commision vs. Hourly, should I expect to get both?

* Average salary? (I figure this changes based on state + experience)

* General experience with management and coworkers? Did you all try to get along, or did it feel competitive?

*Was this a sales position? (Selling product, upselling, etc.)

* Do you generally have a set schedule, or is it on call?

* Should I be looking for/expect pto? How much time off do you get in general?

* Upward mobility in positions?

* Things about your job that you love?

* Things about your job you hate?

* Are you/were you treated differently because of your age/gender/ethnicity in the business?

* Things about your job you wish were different?

I’m sure most of these answers vary based on previous experience and a bunch of other factors, but any general knowledge would be greatly appreciated!! I can add some background info on me if needed. Thank you :)
