Am I missing anything safety-wise? Any experience with similar setups at this age?

My LO is 13 months and currently “splits” the night between her crib and a futon floor bed with me. I’m thinking of ditching the crib entirely and upgrading our floor setup now that she’s a bit older…and I’m spending more and more time on the floor with her.

I’m looking at the Queen Plank Firm mattress paired with a low guardrail frame bed like the one pictured (17.5” tall). I know the absolute safest option is a mattress directly on the floor with no frame, but I love the idea of rails to contain her since she’s such an active sleeper.

My thoughts on safety so far:

If the mattress fits snugly in the frame, entrapment risk should be similar to a crib. The main risk I can see is going head-first over the rails, but I don’t think she’d do that—especially with the door latch open so she can get out freely, and the room is fully baby-proofed. She’d land on soft carpet if she did fall, and I’m considering adding yoga mats or other padding for extra cushion.

Thanks in advance for your comments!
