I was taking a bus ride to my local library the other day. I was engrossed in my phone reading as usual. An elderly woman, probably in her 70's , got in and said hello. I nodded and kept reading until she said she doesn't get to talk much as she lives alone. I immediately put my phone down and had a conversation. I even discovered she was going to the library as well so we talked on the walk there as also. It doesn't take much to engage in conversation with someone who might otherwise be lonely. I will be keeping this in mind from now on.
