My partner and I are heading to Rio at the end of July, but we're still trying to figure out where to crash. I've gone through a bunch of posts here, but I'm still a bit lost, so I thought I'd ask for some tips.

From what I’ve gather, Barra de Tijuca seems pretty chill and is away from the busy tourist spots, plus the beach there is supposed to be nicer. Leblon and Ipanema are more in the thick of things, with everything pretty close. Copacabana probably isn't the best choice since it gets super crowded.

So, any suggestions on the coolest area to stay in? I’d really appreciate it. And if you know any affordable hotels — nothing like Fasano, just reasonably priced lol — I’d be even more grateful!
