Hello users,

It has been brought to our attention that a user (u/I-Cum-Beamish) has been spreading false accusations across this and multiple other Irish subreddits alleging that a prominent account (u/SoloWingPixy88) is secretly an alt / sock puppet account for a member of the r/IrishPolitics moderation team.

We'd like to address these accusations directly.

Preamble: No, the mod team are not using alts however we implore any and all users who believes this accusation to please report it to the Reddit Admins.

Main :

Several members of the moderation team had been in communication with u/I-Cum-Beamish in ModMail for many weeks regarding multiple rule breaches and comment/post removals.
In one of these mails, u/I-Cum-Beamish made the accusation that, following a post removed by Moderator A, a user (u/SoloWingPixy88) DM'd them abusive messages and that one of the mods must be behind this other account.
Depsite several requests to do so, u/I-Cum-Beamish failed to share any screenshot of these "abusive" DMs.
In the single DM that they did share, it became quite apparent that u/I-Cum-Beamish was conflating a comment made by u/SoloWingPixy88 in their post to the removal of the post.

Sequence of events:

u/I-Cum-Beamish posts an article and commented asking why this same article was deleted on another sub.
u/SoloWingPixy88 replies to this comment saying it was removed from that other sub because it was "clearly a non-story".
Shortly after, r/Irishpolitics mods remove the post for being non reliable source.
u/SoloWingPixy88 later DM's u/I-Cum-Beamish saying that the post was locked and taken down "for the reasons I mentioned" i.e. i told you it was a non story and that's why Mods removed it.

We urged u/I-Cum-Beamish (as we do you) to please report it to the Admins if they truly believe what they are saying.

Summary:

Mod A removed the post
Mods A / B / C all communicated with u/I-Cum-Beamish in modmail about the removal.
u/I-Cum-Beamish never specified which of the 8 r/IrishPolitics Mods they were accusing of sending them abusive DMs .
Mods B and Mods C have been accussed of being the alt in other threads.

Conclusion:

Lads, we don't have time to be making up alt accounts. But if you do not believe us then please report it to the Reddit Admins who take this kind of thing (breach in Moderator Code of Conduct) very seriously.
