I’m considering the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di III MACRO VXD (Model F072) for my Nikon Z8 (alongside my Z5 II). I’ve read tests claiming its autofocus is significantly faster than the Nikon Z 105mm f/2.8 MC VR S (0.16s vs. 0.56s with a Z7 II in lab tests), and that it delivers near-identical image quality at a lower price.

Questions for EXPEED 7 shooters:

• How does the Tamron perform in real-world use (macro, portraits, events)?
• Any issues with AF accuracy/consistency on Expeed 7 bodies?
• Is the lack of built-in VR a dealbreaker with Z8’s IBIS?
• Would you choose it over the Nikon 105mm for hybrid use (macro + occasional portraits)?

I’d love to hear your hands-on experiences—especially if you’ve used both!

(Bonus: How’s the bokeh at f/2.8 compared to the Nikon?)
