Realizations after driving a Jeep for 10 years now

Hi,

This is my personal opinion only and I do not intend to judge / offend / ridicule anyone out there. Here are my top 5 realizations after driving a Jeep Wrangler for 10 years (2016 JKU Sahara 6-speed Manual)

  • Jeep wave is a dying trend (at least where I live in the Greater Toronto Area) and the duck thing is taking over
  • I got a 1.5" budget lift kit (CA $ 1,600 installed) and I think my ride quality became noticeably poorer. The spacer lift kits are just an eye candy - nothing else. Please note, that my struts (spring + damper) were also replaced as part of the kit. I did it to make the upgrade to 33" BFG KO2 look a bit more natural (and not the typical mall-crawler look). But I have heard a metal-to-metal knock several times when going over large potholes at non-highway speeds. If I can go back in time, I won't upgrade to a budget lift kit.
  • Unless you're an avid off-roader (important), keeping the Jeep in its stock form is the best thing to do. Get the meaningful mods (like the essential LED headlight upgrade).
  • Wind noise is real and there is no real solution. It gets worse every year and highway driving for long hours can become stressful. So if you're considering buying a Jeep, keep this in mind. I am sure there are expensive solutions out there. But I have been inside a Jeep with floor and roof sound dampeners - it keeps the Jeep cooler for sure, but the road/wind noise reduction is negligible.
  • Winter tires are better than any A/T tires out there. BFG KO2 sucks on wet roads, especially if you're making a sharp turn like a round-about.

Please let me know your thoughts.
