Question about DMX for lasers, did I f**k up?
Hi everyone, After many years on the sound side of the club/rave music scene I have been thrust into being in charge (for some weird reason) of visual effects as well. I recently went online and purchased a "cheap" laser to try and practice making programs with but from reading around on this sub I think I might've made the wrong choice.
I like the images/functions that are already installed on it and I want to be able to program a "routine" or "show" using those effects, can this be done with DMX or do I need to get a ILDA laser?
In the future I want to make some more professional and polished ILDA routines but as I'm just learning DMX (and we already have sound switch) I'm trying to take baby steps and learn while making the most of the equipment that we already have. Our equipment is a Hodge podge of some boxes of old laser and lighting equipment from the previous owners and cheap equipment that we amassed over time. In the past the auto/sound reactive function was good enough for us but now that we are a bit more established I want to get a much more polished and professional visual display to elevate the experience.
Thanks in advance for the help, I'm really excited to start learning more about the visuals side of production.
