HOT TAKE: VBC glass should be TWICE the size of standard DECA glass.

  1. Roleplay prep has a ceiling. You drill test banks, you lock in your STAR structure, you practice your 30 second intro until it's smooth, and then you're done. VBC has no ceiling. There is no test question bank to memorize, no framework to rehearse, no script to fall back on. You are reverse engineering a living simulation engine from scratch, mapping how dozens of variables interact across years with compounding consequences. The skill gap between a good VBC team and a great one is enormous precisely because there is no shortcut to get there.
  2. Speaking is a trainable skill. You can coach someone into a confident presenter in a few weeks, join a club, watch your recordings, fix your filler words. You cannot coach someone into understanding a complex dynamic system in a few weeks. VBC demands the kind of intuition that only comes from hundreds of hours inside the simulation, building and breaking mental models until the whole engine clicks. That is not a grind that fits neatly into a DECA prep schedule, and the glass should reflect that.
