Lightning Strike. Additional Living Expense declined by home insurance.
My house was struck by lightning 2 weeks ago. Roof was blown open and rain water leaked in. Emergency repair had to be started right the way so my house became inhabitable.
I have Ontario residential home insurance. They approved the repair but declined the extra living expense. The reason is that Extra Expense/ALE is not listed on my declaration page somehow. Not excluded but missing entirely. The policy book clearly states that Coverage D - Extra expenses are included. Even their website advertises they are included in the standard package.
It seems to me its the clerical error on their end, but now I am living at a hotel with my family and paying thousands of dollars of hotel and take out food bills. Soon I will run out of limit. What can I do?
