scared the shit out of a new hire by asking them their pronouns LMFAO

not in an intentional way but

one of my younger associates asked what their pronouns were to me, just to be respectful like trying to be nice and i was like. im not sure actually

and i kinda clocked them immediately too ive been referring to them as they but they have a masculine name but. i could kinda tell

basically the one coworker was like "arent u supposed to know" which is fair but i just was like "u could ask!" which she did NOT wanna do so i was like u know what. i can ask

the look of shock and panic i kinda felt bad but they did tell me some stuff abt their gender identity that i will not put on blast here cause they did say theyre not out yet BUT they said they did appreciate me asking it just caught them off guard

i told them there are a couple of not cis ppl we work with if they ever need some1 to talk abt that with but reassured them that were all friendly and were not gonna be hostile toward them

i will make sure they feel safe and i just told my coworkers that "using they usually doesnt hurt people" because theyre just not comfy enough yet

was i wrong for this i said to them its out of a place of respect that i ask for their pronouns not me or anyone else being nosy were a pretty progressive workforce

not a demotion but rather the opposite

so we got this girl whos been there longer than i have and shes just now moving up but my boss doesnt really trust anyone on overnight to train her

like im flattered but please no

and shes like cool and all so its not that i dont wanna train her its just my boss doesnt trust any of the other supervisors atp

he didnt bring it up with me but she did tell me
