99% of the time I have a nightmare, it will be about a house. What does that mean?

I’m 30 years old, so my house dreams have been numerous across my lifetime. It’s not the same house every time, but some of them do make reappearances. Like last night I had a nightmare and it was about a house that I just bought, which prompted this question.

Usually the dreams take the same format. It’s either a new house I just purchased and am exploring, or it’s a house I’ve been to before (like a friend’s house or my own that I’ve lived in for years) and I find some secret passageway I didn’t know existed, and then the rest of the dream is about me exploring this creepy hidden part of this house, backrooms-style. So again, one part of the house is normal and light, and then I happen upon a hidden maze of numerous scary, dark rooms. Usually I’m with friends or my partner and not by myself, which is nice.

The weird part is I always kind of enjoy these dreams. Some of them are much scarier than others, but most of the time there’s this feeling of whoa… how have I never seen this before?! And then I kind of have fun exploring it. But I almost NEVER have nightmares about anything outside of this subject material.
