Hi everyone,
Please don't mind the mess. It's the end of my cleanup cycle and I don't want to stress the bird.
I’m looking for some advice regarding my male Long-tailed Finch (Shaft-tail), who is about 5 years old. His condition has been declining over the past week and reached a turning point today.
Symptoms & Timeline:
- About 1 week ago: I started noticing something was wrong with his mobility.
- Yesterday: He was still able to hop from perch to perch.
- Today: He can no longer fly or reach the perches. He stays at the bottom of the cage, limping and moving with difficulty.
- General state: He is still eating and drinking.
I have already moved his food and water to the floor to help him. Since this progressed over a week and got significantly worse today, I’m wondering if this sounds like a nerve compression (possibly kidney-related) (Gemini source) or a progressive illness rather than a simple injury.
I’ve attached a video of him moving on the floor. Any insights or advice on how to support him would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I remember just staring at this screensaver for minutes waiting for something new to pop out.
