I capped my Ergodox with leather, feels like a dream

I went deep down the keyboarding comfort rabbit hole years ago, switched over to split-ortholinear, fingers aren't fighting for keys. Moved over to colemak, e and d aren't on the same finger anymore. Popped those little rubber bands on for a shorter travel.

I can't say what inspired this mod, all I can talk about is the results. There is no sponginess, my typing speed is unphased. There is a tactile joy of pressing into a texture instead of a plastic surface, it feels like typing on pulp paper.

Plus the lack of slippage due to finger oils / sweat, and the subtle grip really adds to the overall luxurious sensation.

It's only been a week, but it seems like a keeper.

lmk your thoughts.
