Sense check: ₱7M low-risk portfolio for retirement income (PH context, age 59)

Hi everyone,

I’m 59 and approaching retirement, and I’ve been doing my own research on how to build a low-risk, income-generating portfolio of around ₱7M. My main priorities are steady cash flow, capital preservation, and liquidity.

Based on what I’ve read so far, I’m leaning toward a mix of:

Pag-IBIG MP2, Digital banks (high-yield savings / time deposits), Government bonds (RTBs, etc.), REITs for some yield.

I also have a separate emergency fund, so this portfolio is mainly for passive income and long-term stability.

Before I move forward, I wanted to get a sense check from those with more experience:

Does this allocation approach make sense for someone my age and risk profile?

Am I missing better low-risk options in the PH setting?

Any thoughts on how to structure or stagger investments (especially timing entries)?

How would you balance income vs. inflation protection vs. liquidity?

Any pitfalls or risks I might be underestimating?

My goal is to generate a reliable monthly income while protecting capital, not to chase high returns.

Would really appreciate insights, critiques, or alternative approaches. Thanks in advance.
