Alternatives to 365 Days of Hoodoo book?
Hi there! I’m a complete beginner to Hoodoo. I don’t know of any in my family who openly practice as I’m not close with my dad’s side at all. I haven’t seen or talked to most of them in over 20 years tbh. I am neurodivergent and they always treated me differently or I was always in trouble for being me so I just never connected with them.
That said I wasn’t sure where to start but I kept seeing 365 Days of Hoodoo recommended as a good beginner book. But as I mentioned, I’m neurodivergent and as such I have some difficulties with driving. The book is setup in a way that tells you to source tools or supplies in the beginning with no explanation (outside of the mojo bag, like the actual bag not what goes in it). I didn’t realize this early on so every other day I was ordering something else it told me I’d need that I didn’t readily have on hand. That adds up quickly rather than just giving a list for each section.
As you can imagine I interpreted this book in a way that led me to believe it should be done daily. This isn’t working for me. I’m wondering why I’m piling things up but not using them. There’s little explanation and I just feel like there has to be a better starting resource than this.
So I’m curious if anyone has any book recommendations for like fresh beginners who know absolutely nothing? I know there are different resources online but it’s just easier for me to read a book and take physical notes. I also run into a lot of conflicting information online, like whether or not you *need* to incorporate a bible. Some say you do, some say you don’t, some say it’s only for spell work, others say the Christianity is important, while others say Christianity wasn’t implemented into Hoodoo until later. I’m just being presented with a lot of info and none of it’s making sense for me. I’m kind of frustrated and don’t know where I should be starting.
Sorry this is so long, I’m kind of venting out of frustration right now. I appreciate any help, thank you.
