Experiences with the 705 (Vac Only)

This is sort of a repost of something I posted over in r/robotvacuums, but more targeted to Roomba enthusiasts.

I have a workhorse of an i3 that I have absolutely loved. If you saw my post at robotvacuums this morning, I said it was on its last legs; its dead as of this afternoon as I am getting error 26 and see no desire to replace the cleaning head when that robot ran multiple times a day for 4 years. I'd rather just get something newer.

I just need something like the i3 that can replace it 1:1 (i.e. I don’t want any combo or mopping features since the i3 is used only in a carpeted area). I’ve considered replacing the i3 with a 705 Vac since it seems like they're relatively similar (down to the dual head brushes), but the discussion surrounding Roombas at robotvacuums is lukewarm at best.

I wanted some perspective here on the 705 from people who are probably actually using them.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and feedback.

Replacing Dying Roomba i3 - Are the new Roombas that bad or is everything else just better?

I have a workhorse of an i3 that I have absolutely loved but is starting to act up like its on its last legs. I see it as something as a red flag that I get frequent emails with massive sales for new Roomba vacs, as to me that’s a sign of significant unsold inventory and I worry about the health of the parent company. But, at the same time, I just need something like the i3 that can replace it 1:1 (i.e. I don’t want any combo or mopping features since the i3 is used only in a carpeted area). I’ve considered replacing the i3 with a 705 Vac, but the discussion surrounding Roombas here is lukewarm at best. I know they’ve been bought out and iRobot as we knew it no longer exists, but I am curious if the 705 would be that bad or if there just is more out there that’s better at the same price point ($499 on sale).

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and feedback.
