Interior Care

Hey there! I recently purchased this totaled Mustang GT. I’m working on stripping the interior, cleaning it up, and swapping the blacked out trim/seats/carpet/headliner/everything I can into my silver Mustang GT! I have a pretty good amount of work ahead of me and I’ve never really had to do such extensive cleaning on anything before. I bought this car specifically to take advantage of how hard it is to acquire these black leather seats and I’m really hoping you could give me some advice! What products do you recommend to use on leather? I don’t mind taking the time to do this right, this car is my baby and I want it to be treated right! Any tips or suggestions on tools/equipment? Any YouTube channels you would recommend to a noob who’s stepping up to the plate for the first time? Any considerations you can see from these images that might scare you away from reusing any of the interior in this vehicle? I’m not opposed to buying something new if it looks like anything is a total loss

I just pulled the seats out and began throwing away all the trash that’s inside to open up the canvas and more easily access all the appropriate places to start removing trim!

I really appreciate you taking the time to read this far and offer up your two cents 🙏

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a Satin Silver 05 GT that I absolutely love. My only complaint with these cars has been the interior. They leave a bit to be desired in my opinion. I owned an 07 v6 for the last decade and just upgraded. With that being said, I want to give this thing a little facelift and would love some ideas and possibly pictures of what you guys have done.

My interior is all silver and cloth. I sourced heated black leather front seats and black leather rears in good condition already. I want to ultimately swap the grip panels or paint them, do the headliner & carpet over in black. Any other suggestions? Anyone have experience with painting these trim panels? The guy I bought the seats from has a totaled 05 with a blacked out interior. I’m thinking about offering cash for his door panels, carpet, etc but I feel like painting mine might be easier than fully swapping. Any thoughts or advice other than “don’t do it” would be appreciated 😁
