Why are JBODS so expensive?
Im looking at upgrading my servers with some JBODS specifically some Dell MD1200's to MD1400 for higher capacity 3.5" drives compared to the 2.5" drive bays my servers have. On EBAY MD1200's are 200$+ and MD1400's are 500$+. The MD1200 isn't as bad but the MD1400 prices are insane for me to think about considering they are going for more than I spent on both of my R440's and my R630 combined (418$). The reason I was looking at Dell PowerVault's is my entire rack is Dell so it was where I started looking
Are all JBOD's this expensive and if so, what are the cheaper ways of going about adding 3.5" support for my servers?
