This is a sad and devastating moment for me, but I know many others who have been affected- entirely negatively by the kratom ban in August.
I’ve known a decent amount of people who had come a long way. I’m their careers and becoming more socially and mentally stable. I had an uncle figure who was doing so great by not drinking alcohol and unfortunately that change of lifestyle did not stick.
It’s had a net negative effect on me too, after struggling over a decade with substance use and mental health disorders. Having something that not only made getting out of bed bearable, but exciting. Having a lust for life… I truly miss it.
I’ve tried the medication assisted therapies that are available (well suboxone. Getting methadone isn’t a logistic possibility for me rn)
There were so many possibilities to keep it out of the hands of kids but letting the adults who needed it, be able have it. Not to mention it was banned for research purposes, so we are not even able to study how it helped so many people with alcoholism and opiate use disorder. Unfortunately, we live in a state run by lobbyist to control corrupt politicians.
Anyone have any stories they’d like to share about how the banning of kratom had affected them? Just a little sad and angry over the whole thing. So I wanted to vent and have this space for others to vent as well.
I also ask if this hasn’t directly impacted you, to keep an eye on the overdose numbers that had steeply declined as extracts became more commercially available. I haven’t seen what the numbers have done since August but I don’t suspect they are good.
TLDR: the kratom ban has been really rough on me and my small circle of friends.
