Looking to upgrade my setup
I’m specifically looking to upgrade my turntable and speakers.
My current system:
Sony STR DH590 receiver (no phono)
U Turn Orbit turntable, hooked to a U Turn Pluto Preamp)
And a pair of Pioneer CS-g103 speakers (had these since I was in college, about 20 years!)
I have roughly $900 in amazon credit/gift cards (it’s part of a reward program from my employer that I’ve accumulated over many years) So I’d prefer to leverage that Amazon credit for a new turntable and possibly new speakers as well.
My Orbit turntable has been ok for the past 6-7 years, but I’m not a fan of how you change speed or the belt system in general. The cheap belts stretch out too easily and need to be replaced often. Not to mention the fact that they don’t stay on well to begin with.
My speakers are serviceable, but old, and not very high end. I’d love to find a way to upgrade these without spending too much of my budget.
I’ve perused a few of the available turntables that Amazon currently offers(audio technica, pro ject, Fluance) and many of them seem very similar with slight pros and cons. And would any of them work well with my existing Sony recover and/or U Turn preamp?
Many many thanks in advance for any and all advice!
Ps - I’m in the PA suburbs, west of Philadelphia (19426)
