Failed oxytocin induction? [BC]

Hello. I’m 23 and a FTM. Due to gestational hypertension we attempted an induction starting at 38+0 with cervidil, another round the next day, and a foley the day after. After that I was 2-3cms dilated but cervix was still high and posterior. At 38+4 we tried oxytocin which I was told would have me holding my baby within 24 hours.

We started at 2 and went up all the way to 18 with minimal contractions. They weren’t very strong, barely beginning to become painful, irregular and would stop shortly after upping the dose each time. After 14 I stopped having them almost completely.

My waters were in tact due to no cervical change and being too high to safely break them, especially considering I wasn’t contracting.

Am I doomed? I’m due to go back again tomorrow at 38+6 and I’m assuming we are doing round 2 of oxytocin. Am I doomed? They already have been talking about scheduling me for a cesarean that I really don’t want, but if I’m torturing myself here for nothing maybe it’s best??

I’m looking for anyone who can share similar experiences, or those who are smarter than me to explain why this might have happened. I wasn’t really given an answer at the hospital other than they thought the oxytocin would have worked, or that my body isn’t ready, which I don’t quite understand considering I’m dilated a bit and full term.

Thanks!

Will Nursing Strike Affect My Induction? [BC]

Hello! I’m a FTM 38+5 with my first baby. Earlier this week we went through 5 days of failed induction for mild gestational hypertension, and are going back for round 2 possibly as soon as Saturday.

I’ve heard news about the possible strike and it seems there’s a solid chance of this happening. I live in the lower mainland where hospitals are already short on staff and wait times are through the roof.

My induction is medically necessary but not necessarily urgent unless my labs change into pre eclampsia. I’ve been told I’m “top of the list priority” for inductions, but even that being said, my hospital is so busy inductions are never guaranteed appointment wise (ex. They kept pausing my treatment because 2 other women were in labour and I wouldn’t have a nurse until they delivered).

All that being said, how would the strike affect my treatment? When would this begin? I’m particularly interested in any nurses who may be able to comment. Maybe it’s my anxiety but I do not want to be prematurely pushing into c section because they don’t have the resources to help me :(

I’m also interested in any tips or advice to get this baby out of my body LOL

I’m being admitted for my induction in an hour. Right after finishing my phone call with the hospital, baby had to get me one last time and I threw up in the bathroom sink. Glad to know it was (hopefully) my last time for a while! Wish me luck!
