Feeling lost about my degree choice and disillusioned with/bored by Humanities course

Hi everyone,

I’ve always been a naturally high achiever in the Humanities and only reasonably good at STEM. In high school I ended up taking 4 unit English and dropped out of Maths Advanced as I found it too difficult. The thing is, I have realised now, one year into my BArts degree, that as much as the Humanities come easily to me, I am bored by the content and disillusioned with the subjectivity of the discipline. And, thinking back to high school, even though I ended up dropping out of Maths Advanced, on the occasion that I did well in it, I actually really enjoyed it and got more satisfaction out of it than any of my Humanities courses. I’m just really lost and could use some advice, especially from any students who are enrolled/have completed a STEM degree even if not naturally inclined towards STEM subjects.

Overall, I am torn between continuing a degree that I do well in without too much effort but don’t feel very excited by, versus struggling a fair bit in a STEM degree but, I think, being a lot more satisfied with future career outcomes (I’m particularly interested in something to do with aviation/aerospace) if I am able to miraculously get better at STEM and do well enough in a STEM degree.

OLES1603: Astronomy: Exploring the Universe not available in Sydney Student?

Hi everyone,

I’m really keen on enrolling in the Astronomy OLE for next semester, but when looking on Sydney Student it is not listed as an OLE I can enrol in for sem 2. On the unit outline page, theres a unit outline for this current semester available, so I wonder if it’s just simply an issue of the unit only being offered in Sem 1 each year? Who should I contact for information about the units availability? I really hope it hasn’t been canceled as I really want to take it.

Thank you.

Analytical/STEM leaning OLEs?

Hi everyone,

I’m a BArts student and for next semester I want to take advantage of the OLEs not contributing to WAM calculation and only being pass/fail, and do a more STEM leaning unit so that I can give the Humanities side of my brain a bit of a break occasionally. Are there any more analytical OLEs you recommend, preferably Maths/Physics orientated? Also, if anyone could speak to their experience in OLES1603, that would be great, as I’m interested in space so I’m considering that one.

Thank you all

Margo & Sergei FTW

They were such an engaging couple on screen and especially when it comes to season 3 and onwards, they were a major part of why I stayed invested in the show as other aspects started to deteriorate in quality. The writers were so cruel building up their relationship for so long and not even giving Margo anyone else in the meantime, poor girl cared about Sergei so much and they had such little time together.

>!I wish that they got more screen time together as a couple, probably would’ve made Sergei’s death hurt more but that would be a small price to pay, imo.!<
