I spent more time figuring this one out before oil painting than usual. I first sketched a bunch of side profiles and picked one, then tried to come up with a dynamic pose, then recreated it with myself as reference. I used a crappy canvas board for this one. I’ve been getting my portraits ruined over and over for my poses not being dynamic enough in my art class. I prefer stylized over full realism.

This will definitely not be the last Superman piece I do to many’s dismay.
