Hey everyone,

Tired of my laptops not being repairable and becoming obsolete after little use.

I’m looking to build a desktop (or buy a good pre-built) that will comfortably last 5 to 7 years and gives me the freedom to upgrade. My budget is $2,500 - $3,000 CAD.

Primary Use (Gaming): I want to play at 1440p on Max settings with good frame rates (let me know if I’m overshooting here). I mostly play single-player games (really want to try the new Resident Evil) and casual multiplayer with friends. No competitive esports.

After some research, I'm very interested in a Ryzen 7 7800X3D/9700x + RX 9070 XT combo, but I'm open to suggestions!

Aesthetics: An all-black build with minimal to no RGB.

Storage: Just 1TB of storage to start; I can easily add more later.

Quick Question:

Should I start with 16GB of RAM and upgrade to 32GB later, or should I just jump straight to 32GB right now?

Thanks in advance for the part lists or suggestions!

Edit: also interested in using Linux as my main OS, are NVIDIA cards really that bad on Linux?

Looking to ditch my laptop and get a desktop that I can use for gaming and just getting personal work done. Wanted to find a card with more vram to explore and build with Ai models but I don’t think I can afford that now

Tired of not being able to repair my laptop when something goes wrong and it inevitably becoming slow and unusable.

Found this on Facebook market place please let me know if it’s good, if I should look at prebuilts or build a custom instead.
