Advice on Dupixent for kids
My 4.5yo son has pretty severe eczema, has had it since birth basically (started as “severe baby acne” then turned into severe eczema). He’s always itchy in the common problem areas: hands, feet, inside of elbows, back of knees. He’s often got swollen eyes that are red, dry, and itchy. We’ve tried just about every natural way to curb the flare-ups and none of them worked for us. We’ve been using triamcinolone daily for… years. This season his eczema and allergies have been the worst we’ve ever seen. He cries at night from his eyes “burning” and itching, and he will wake up in the middle of the night asking for a cold compress. Our allergist and dermatologist both suggested Dupixent.
He gets his first shot in two weeks. I’m excited but I’m also so so worried. His eyes are a problem all the time. I feel that the most common side effect I’m seeing is eye related. Our son will be taking a 300mg shot every 4 weeks.
If your child is on Dupixent I would so appreciate you sharing anything about your experience. I’m having major mom guilt about putting him on this medication because I’d hate for it to cause him any other harm (and many (adults) posts saying the shot hurts?!).
