[PSA] The Division 2: Complete Map of All 40 Corrupted Paper Lanterns + Guide

This is a complete map of all 40 paper lanterns scattered across DC that you need to interact with in order to get the commendation. In addition to the map itself, this post also lists all locations with descriptions, pictures, and their most accurate coordinates in both formats.

If you have a controller connected, the game will display coordinates on the map when you zoom in. These coordinates start from [0, 0] outside the map, roughly around 240° SW. However, you can also see coordinates in the top-right corner of the menu. These coordinates use Manny's office at the White House as ground zero and count outward from there, so they are completely different.

The list below includes both coordinate formats: the menu coordinates first, followed by the map coordinates for those playing with a controller.

There is no specific order in which you need to interact with those lanterns. However, I decided to add some logic to the route and ordered them so you can complete everything in one clockwise run, starting at the White House and finishing with the 40th lantern in Downtown West.

[PSA] Cherry Blossom Event: Drop Chances for Keys, Prototypes and Gear Cache Loot

The main concept of the event is pretty much the same as with the Winter Event. It's a community event featuring community challenges, caches, keys, and kill squads. Kitsunebi kill squads are packs of five Outcast enemies that spawn randomly from the nearest spawn closet. After defeating the NPCs from a Kitsunebi kill squad, either the Fox Ronin or Red Ronin hunter will spawn. Unlike the previous event, drop chances are now tied to world difficulty. Defeating a Ronin grants a chance to drop a Sakura Key, scaled by your world difficulty, and you will also receive skill VFXs as a guaranteed reward. NPCs from Kitsunebi kill squads can also drop Sakura Keys, although with a drop chance ten times lower than Ronins. The chances for Ronins and NPCs to drop Sakura Keys are as follows:

  • Normal: 55% (5.0% for NPCs)
  • Hard: 60% (5.5% for NPCs)
  • Challenging: 62.5% (6.0% for NPCs)
  • Heroic: 65% (6.5% for NPCs)

There is a probability of encountering Kitsunebi kill squads at Control Points and at the Loot Goblin locations (DZ South, DCD, Lincoln Memorial, etc.), though slightly less frequently. They can still spawn normally in the open world from the nearest spawn closet to the player. Each kill squad has a 10-minute cooldown after spawning. For instance, the next kill squad will appear 10 minutes after the previous one.

As mentioned above, completing a Ronin encounter rewards a Sakura key and a Skill VFX. Skill VFXs for the drone and turret are tied to Fox Ronin, while VFXs for the hive and seeker mine are tied to Red Ronin.

Sakura Keys can be used at the Event Vendor to open either an Apparel Cache or a Gear Cache. The Apparel Cache is pretty straightforward, offering guaranteed vanity items with no duplicates.

The Gear Cache contains a wide variety of gameplay items, ranging from Special Named Items to Prototypes. There are seven loot groups in total, each with its own overall drop chance, as well as individual drop chances for items within that group.

  • First Bloom — 12% per cache
  • First Bloom Prototype — 1.0% per cache
  • Prototype Gear Set — 0.5% per cache
  • Prototype Seasonal Named Gear — 0.5% per cache:
    • The Harvest — 10%
    • Chill Out — 10%
    • Sleigher — 10%
    • Slingshot — 10%
    • Oh Carol — 10%
    • First Sight — 10%
    • Quickstep — 10%
    • Festive Delivery — 10%
    • Snow Machine — 10%
    • Bell Ringer — 10%
  • Special Named Gear — 33% per cache:
    • Lexington — 14.2%
    • Turmoil — 14.2%
    • Caretaker — 14.2%
    • Shield Splinterer — 14.2%
    • Huntsman — 14.2%
    • Hunter-Killer — 14.2%
    • Handbasket — 14.2%
  • Seasonal Named Gear — 28% per cache:
    • The Harvest — 11.1%
    • Chill Out — 11.1%
    • Sleigher — 11.1%
    • Slingshot — 11.1%
    • Oh Carol — 11.1%
    • First Sight — 11.1%
    • Quickstep — 11.1%
    • Festive Delivery — 11.1%
    • Snow Machine — 11.1%
  • General Pool Exotics — 25% per cache:
    • Agitator — 14.2%
    • Investor — 14.2%
    • Chatterbox — 14.2%
    • Dodge City Gunslinger's Holster— 14.2%
    • Ridgeway's Pride — 14.2%
    • Nemesis — 14.2%
    • Liberty — 14.2%

The loot group for the Prototype Gear Set contains all 27 available gear sets, each of which has six pieces. The drop rates within this group are distributed evenly, so it is completely random which specific gear piece from which set will drop.

Just to clear up any misunderstandings, as you can see, there are no Lexington Prototype or other non-event Prototype weapons, nor any High-End Prototypes in the pool, so it is impossible to obtain them. The only Prototype items you can get from the caches are the First Bloom Prototype and the Prototype Gear Sets.
