First year gardener here… looking to fill these up with top soil and compost soon. 8x4x1 bed.

Are some of these logs too large to use at Hugelkultur? I know they can take years to decompose. A couple of them easily take up 5-6 inches of depth. Will they interfere with some of our plants root systems? Can the roots grow around the logs or tap into them for nutrients? Anything I’m missing?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
