Best option to travel to Samaria Gorge?
I am visiting in a couple of weeks in May and will be staying in Chania with access to a rental car for the duration of our trip. I’ve seen plenty of other threads recommend taking the buses from Chania to the start of the gorge. Sounds like it would be too long of a day to park there, do the hike, ferry out, and bus back to the parked rental.
My questions:
is this the case even if you are very early to the park? How early can one enter the park?
if a bus is the better option, is that something that must/can be booked ahead of time? On the KTEL website, I am not seeing any available tickets from Chania to either Xyloskalo or Omalos which appear to the be the two nearest stops to the park.
