Hi all,

I recently bought an apartment in Brussels and I’m facing a few issues with the flooring and I’d really appreciate some advice.

The apartment was advertised (clearly, mentioned 5 times in the listing) as having solid wood parquet throughout. It's not the type of thing you can easily identify by just looking at it (afaik)

After moving in, I decided to have the floor sanded and refinished. During the process, I was told that the parquet is actually semi-solid, not solid wood.

On top of that, there are some defects:

  • In one area (middle of the hallway), the top layer seems to be detaching now that it has been sanded thinking it was solid wood.
  • The sanding result is not great, the guys who did the renovation told me the layer is too thin to do a proper job.
  • Overall, the floor doesn’t behave like solid wood would.

I understand this might seems trivial but I'm just pissed and spend a crap load of my money on this renovation and I can't get the result I wanted.

What should I do and can I realistically get back to either the seller or the agency ?

Anyone already been in a similar situation ?

Thanks!
