I believe that objects such as dream catchers, evil eyes, ankhs, talismans, and similar symbols can hold great power. I incorporate several of these items into my daily environment, including a small djed on my bookshelf and an evil eye near my door, along with other symbolic pieces placed throughout my living space. For me, these objects create a sense of protection and emotional stability.
At the same time, I am aware that many of these items originate from cultures and traditions that are different from my own. I have often heard discussions suggesting that using or displaying cultural or spiritual objects without a direct connection to their origins may be viewed as disrespectful or inappropriate. This has led me to question whether my use of these items could be considered a form of cultural insensitivity, even if my intentions are rooted in respect and personal comfort.
I want to know where the line is drawn between appreciation and appropriation, particularly in the context of spiritual or symbolic objects. Is it possible to incorporate such items into my life without it considered being disrespectful?
