Where Macklin Celebrini Sits Among the Greats after his Historic 2025-26 Season

Right, it’s the end of the season and it’s time to update this list of Macklin Celebrini’s rankings among the all-time greats. Based on feedback on the last one of these I did, I will be separating his rankings among Sharks and in the NHL. Again, feel free to add any in the comments that I may have missed. First off, his rankings among all-time NHL players:

  • Macklin Celebrini sits 5^(th) on the all-time scoring list by teenagers in NHL history. His 178 points before turning 20 sit only behind Sidney Crosby, Wayne Gretzky, Dale Hawerchuk and Jimmy Carson.
  • In terms of even strength points, Celebrini (123) sits only behind Hawerchuk (125) for most before the age of 20.
  • He also now holds the 3^(rd) highest all-time points in a single season for a teenager in the History of the NHL, sitting only behind Gretzky and Crosby’s age 19 seasons. His 82 even strength points this season sits only behind Gretzky in this regard who has 100. Crosby for reference, had 59 even strength points in his age 19 season.
  • He is the 5^(th) teenager all time to score 45 goals in an NHL season.
  • Celebrini also holds the record for points on 45.8% of goals for us this season, the highest ever share for a teenager. Gretzky had points on 45.5% of Oilers goals in 1979-80
  • He joined Gretzky as the only teenagers to ever record a 45 goal, 70 assist season. He joins 25 other players who have had a 45 goal, 70 assist season, with Gretzky achieving the feat 9 times and Mario Lemieux who did it 7 times (here’s to many more).
  • Mack also had 18 3-point games this season, only trailing Gretzky’s record (19) by 1 3-point game.
  • Celebrini was also the 4^(th) teenager to set a franchise record for points in a season, with Gretzky (common name here eh?), Hawerchuk and your San Jose Sharks first-ever draft pick Pat Falloon.
  • Macklin Celebrini’s 115 points in a season was 10^(th) highest all time among players who would go onto miss the playoffs that year.
  • He also collected 19 multi assist games, trailing only Gretzky (21) and Crosby (20).
  • Against the Blue Jackets, Mack became the 5^(th) player in NHL history to record 100 assists as a teenager, hitting this milestone in 141 games.
  • He is also 4^(th) in 3+ point games by a teenager with 21 games in NHL history.
  • Last month against the Senators, he became the 3^(rd) fastest teen to 60 assists in a season (65 GP), trailing only Sidney Crosby (50 GP in 2006-07) and Wayne Gretzky (56 GP in 1979-80). He now also sits with those two as the only teenagers with a 70+ assist season as a teen.
  • Also against the Sabres that month, he became the 3^(rd) fastest teen to reach 90 points in a season (62 games), trailing only Sidney Crosby (54 GP in 2006-07) and Wayne Gretzky (56 GP in 1979-80).
  • Earlier this year, he was the 4^(th) teen in NHL history to reach 40 points in 27 or fewer games, joining Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby.
  • Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith also hold 2^(nd) on the list of most points on the same goal with 55 goals in 117 games played. They trail only Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews for this record (64 goals in 9 more games, 0.44 goals per games played for this stat compared to WillMack’s 0.47).

Not so bad, now here is where he ranks among sharks:

  • Macklin Celebrini now holds the title for the highest ever point scoring season by a San Jose Shark with 115, surpassing Joe Thornton’s 2006-07 season (114).
  • Celebrini also holds the 2^(nd) highest goal scoring season by a Shark with 45 after his record setting goal against the Winnipeg Jets, surpassing a tie for 3^(rd) with Patrick Marleau’s 2009-10 season and Owen Nolan’s 1999-2000 season.
  • He also holds the 3^(rd) highest assisting season by a Shark after the regular season finale with 70, trailing only Joe Thornton’s 2006-07 season (92) and Erik Karlsson’s 2022-23 season (76).
  • Unsurprisingly, his involvement in 45.8% of the goals scored by the Sharks this season is also the highest in the history of the franchise.
  • Mack also holds the 2^(nd) most multi point games by a Shark in a singular season, sitting only behind Jumbo’s 2006-07 season.
  • He also holds the title for the highest points per game among the Sharks (minimum of 20 games played), with 1.171 points per game (lucky number 71?).
  • His 178 points sits 20^(th) on all time sharks scoring. Next on the list is Milan Michálek who scored 36 more points in 145 games.

Credit goes to San Jose Sharks PR, NHL Records, QuantHockey, Josh Dubow of the Associated Press and NBC. He turns 20 years old on June 13^(th) 2026. He cannot legally drink in the United States for another 421 Days. Special player.
