Pondering ways to mod the new Big Mek model to look more like a SAG Mek (ignoring base size for the moment).

What do you gitz think of this general notion? Any obvious flaws I'm not thinking of? I don't have a lot of experience with kitbashing!

  • Remove the engine block looking bit on the Mek's shoulders, and its attached tellyporta
  • Remove the front of the Tractor Blaster, and replace it with the tellyporta assembly
  • Remove the wrench / drill bit from the right arm, and insert a basic tube / barrel
  • Tricky bit – Ideally, remove the wrench and have the mek's right arm actually grabbing the armor's handle. Maneuver that arm to approximately be pointing towards the ground in front of the mek
  • Using some sort of epoxy (green stuff?) wrapped around a flexible tube, mold a vacuum tube connecting the two arms
  • Sculpt a snotling / modify a gretchin to be the unfortunate piece of ammunition

First Game – Orks v World Eaters

Mini combat report to commemorate our first time playing!

Stats and Overview

  • Orks (Dread Mob) vs World Eaters (Berzerker Warband)
    • The 2x Infantry requirement really seems to hurt World Eaters, as 2x berzerkers + character really doesn't leave you with many points to work with
    • Dread Mob seems well-positioned with some durable meks, gretchin to do actions, and a loota block for dakka (more on that later)
  • Mission: Take and Hold
  • Twist: Adapt or Die
    • We're just getting back into 40k, so aren't used to secondary missions. Harder to keep track or than expected, even in a simplified environment like the colosseum, and with the simplest possible primary. Great way to learn, though!

Game 1

  • Orks play first
  • Kans and Dread advanced to contend the center while gretchen swept the sides for points
  • Berzerkers were severely hamstrung by Loota overwatch on their first turn, and weren't really able to recover
  • Ork victory!

Game 2

  • World Eaters play first
  • Berzerkers stayed in cover to deny overwatch, but didn't go for a t1 charge
  • This allowed for a T1 WAAAGH to deny them their charge bonuses.
  • Neither side bothered with secondaries this match – total slugfest
  • Despite the Lootas never engaging in combat, the preemptive charge allowed orks to eke out a win.
