is there anyway to make this have a good outcome?
SORRY ABOUT THE LONG TEXT!
TLDR: would it be bad to make 1 indoor kitty and 2 outdoor kitties become 3 indoor kitties together in a new state? (btw we’d be driving to the new state!)
Hello fellow cat lovers! Me and my partner are looking to move out of his parents house and into either an apartment or a townhouse (cats allowed) this upcoming October from California to Oregon. We currently have a kitty named Stelle who loves honestly everyone, she’s not a normal kitty, she doesn’t really ask for pets or love she just likes to play and stalk us around the house. She has two siblings but they will be taken by my partners sister when she moves out in the upcoming months too.
We have had a kitty named Minta outside for awhile, she’s was originally not touchable, only came to eat sometimes, but at one point someone thought it was their cat so our local rescue had taken Minta into their place for a day or two to see if it was her owner. It ended up not being her owner and her chip says she’s 7 years old and leads to a number that doesn’t pick up 5 cities away. I’m guessing she was cat that was dumped awhile back or was given away to new owners but those owners just ended up letting her out also. Ever since she came back from that 2 days at a house, she’s been inseparable. She meows for food, loves to cuddle in the car, loves to come inside the house every so often to cuddle there too. She makes biscuits, comes running from across the neighborhood if you call her name, just lately she has started taking walks with us.
Just this last month and a half, we have another kitty named Dipper who we feed every morning and night and he naps all day in our front yard. We got him TNR’d and he’s slowly coming around and getting closer to us. He’s VERY talkative, both him and Minta are always meowing when we come out to feed them dinner. We can’t touch him though, he’s still skittish.
Here comes the thing, would it be wrong to take them with us and “force” them to live indoors with us and Stelle? His parents aren’t really liable to feed the outside kitties (they won’t even listen we tried to tell them about plants cats can’t be around when they get flowers inside, they just got lilies and we had to hide them in the garage from them 💀) so i’m worried they wouldn’t be taken care of anyways, and me and my bf have gotten very attached to our outdoor duo.
I’m just worried it could go wrong. Minta growls at every cat, and even us sometimes if we pet her in the wrong areas. She never hurts our kitties, if anything our Stelle is the one that try’s to play with her and Minta runs to the door and wants out LOL. During the winter we had her in often and usually they’d just chill together and lay near eachother. She growls at Dipper too, but they don’t fight. Dipper has started meowing with a growl a bit too, but they never fight and will lay near eachother, maybe it’s just a flight or fight personal space thing?
Would it be wrong for us to hope and try to get them to get along (slowly, it will be a new space and even if they “kinda” know eachother, i’d want to introduce them all over again in a professional way) and make them all indoor kitties? Would they come around? Or would it end in disaster? Please let me know, and forgive me for how long this was! Thank you for reading!
