Knocking through kitchen and dining room in 1930s semi - best kitchen diner layout?
Hi everyone,
I’m about to begin renovating a 1930s semi in the UK and trying to work out the best layout for the kitchen/dining area.
Current situation:
• Narrow galley kitchen (4.22m x 2.39m)
• Separate dining room (5.37m x 3.49m) with sliding doors to the garden
• I’m considering removing the wall between them to create an open kitchen diner.
My questions:
1. Should the kitchen stay roughly where it is now or move into the dining room space?
2. Would an island work in a room this width?
3. Where would you place the dining table relative to the garden doors?
Any layout ideas or sketches would be hugely appreciated.
Floor plan and photos attached.
