TP-Link Omada EAP211 Bridge Kit – Signal randomly changes after reset (44 dBm vs 63 dBm) at only 50m?
Hey everyone,
I’m having a confusing issue with my TP-Link Omada EAP211-Bridge Kit and hoping someone here can explain what’s going on.
I installed this kit a few months ago to link two buildings about 50 meters apart. There are no obstacles and clear line of sight.
At first, I just set it up and left everything default.Recently, I started tweaking things after watching YouTube reviews where people are getting 500–700 Mbps, even at longer distances than mine.
What I’m seeing:
• Initially I had around -75 dBm signal (which I know is bad)
• After adjusting alignment, I got it to about -63 dBm
• Speed tests show only about 100–200 Mbps up/down, which is way lower than expected
The weird part:
I reset both devices… and suddenly:
• Signal improved to -44 dBm
• Same exact physical alignment (I didn’t move anything!)
Then weeks later after a power outage:
• Signal went back to around -63 dBm
Out of curiosity, I reset both devices again:
• Back to -44 dBm instantly
So my question:
Why does the signal drastically improve after a reset, without changing alignment?
Things I checked:
• Channels seem the same before/after
• No physical movement of devices
• Same mounting positions
• Same distance (~50m)
My guesses:
• Firmware bug?
Has anyone experienced this with Omada bridges or similar point-to-point setups?
Any ideas what could cause this behavior?
