I really hate when Joe Chill had a motive for killing the Waynes

I think it’s clear why they would want to implement this as it could be more dramatic if it was a hit from the mob or connected to a villain but it’s more interesting when Batman’s reason for doing what he is is just the randomness of crime and how desperate people have gotten . I actually like the idea that Batman in his early career searches for a rhyme or reason to only discover Joe isn’t some evil criminal but a man who made a terrible decision and that teaches Bruce a great lesson that it’s the poverty or terrible nature of Gotham which killed his parents and not some easy target pushing Bruce to fix Gotham rather than just punishing criminals and even though the Batman 2022 is my favorite Batman and superhero movie from a comic fans perspective that didn’t really sit right with me . And I love the other ideas like Batman’s mother suffering from mental health issues and Thomas Wayne aligning himself with crime to protect his family but than ultimately regretting it but the idea that the Wayne’s being killed by maybe a Falcone hit is just dumb and takes away a valuable lesson and showing of how crime is just sometimes random .

I really love the idea that Martha Wayne suffered from mental illness

It makes Bruce Wayne potentially more sympathetic towards the criminals he fights everyday since that his mom was sick as well making someone like Two Face and or Scarface a bit more hard ,.

I also just like the idea that Bruce would have a personal connection to Arkham from childhood instead of just a place where he sends colorful villains . and raises some important question of Batman’s own sanity , a lot in the old comics especially Batman year one Batman wants to be his father and looks up to him but he’s also his mother’s child so how would he grapple with that ? . The Batman 2022 opened the door and I can’t wait to see how it’s handled because it would be really interesting how a Hugo Strange would use this to hurt Bruce or Batman questioning his decisions believing himself to succumb to his familiar illness against a threat that inspires paranoia like the court of owls .
