New to the club - need your advice

Hello all,

I am 32+5 weeks pregnant with my second child and I live in Sweden. I got diagnosed with GD 2 weeks ago (did not have it with my first baby and baby was born 3.5kg vaginal birth and no complications) and tried the diet and exercise and followed every trick in the book but unfortunately my fasting numbers were always on the high side. I finally met a doctor today and they want me to start insulin (6 units) from today as they think I am already quite far along to try metaformin.

  1. In the two weeks I have experimented with various complex carbohydrates and the trend is I don’t do well with any kind of carbs in the night at all, so I try to stick to that during day time - the doctor said “it’s ok if you even go no carb as veggies have enough carbs” This is not what I read but any thoughts on this?

  2. I will only be induced at 40+6 as per the rules here, I see many people with GD getting induced earlier - anyone who went this far along and have any thoughts to share? I asked my doctor about it and she said they are not too concerned about placenta and the only reason they would induce early is if the baby is big or for some other medical reason

  3. I had a growth scan at 32 weeks and the baby is measuring smaller, -9.7 percentage less than the average. With the new diet of no complex carbs as per the doctor and also the insulin I am a bit worried how to make sure baby is growing well. Or do you think once I start the insulin I will be able to tolerate complex carbs better? All my research says baby needs certain amount of carbs a day.
