Minor just under 18?
Hi all,
Like others have done, I decided to 'test the waters' and see if my own application faced any hurdles and then proceed with those for my kids. Now that my own application is 'in processing' we decided to move forward.
One of my kids is about to turn 18 in early May.
Any thoughts on what to do about that? I can send it in before that, I think. Does it make sense to rush that through, or wait?
It is not an urgent application.
Thanks
Restoration, future use, and info - Kelly Works Flint Edge
Hi,
This belonged to my grandfather, who worked in the US Forest Service. I brought it back from my parents' house where it was sitting in the garage, with the idea to do something with it.
The easiest thing: it could just sit on a wall or something as a decoration.
What would restoring it to some kind of useful condition entail? How does that compare to simply 'restoring' it to look a bit less rusty?
I would not place a lot of faith in the head being firmly attached to the handle. What's a good/safe way to test that?
Would restoring it to working condition likely involve replacing the handle? I'm thinking that pairing the vintage head with a new handle might not work out so well in the aesthetics department.
It came with a leather carrying thing that I already cleaned up and used leather conditioner on - second photo.
Any idea about how old it is? I'm thinking 40ies or 50ies when he was active in the Forest Service. Interestingly, the other side has "USIFS" (with an I) engraved in it. I'm not sure where the "I" (or 1?) comes from.
Thank you!
