So I read somewhere that modern Chicano activists argue that framing everyone as Aztecs was a form of “Aztec imperialism” that erased hundreds of other distinct indiginous nations in Mexico and the southwest

Since Chicanos don’t typically have a indiginous connection could this be a viable solution

I’m curious on your thoughts

I feel like we should pass legislation to correct the labeling of the descendants of native americans, specifically those with iberian lineage, as non white. historically speaking spaniards were not considered white, only Anglo-Saxons were.

My argument is that those that are predominatly native american should be labeled as native american or at the very least a mix, if we were to consider spaniards white.

while mestizo is a mixed category, it generally leans towards the spanish side.

why cant we be native orientated mestizos?
