UAE Labour Law Advice: Forced resignation & document issue (JAFZA)

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking serious legal guidance regarding an employment situation in the UAE (Jebel Ali Free Zone / Dubai South). I would appreciate input from anyone familiar with UAE labour law or free zone employment cases.

I recently joined a company in Dubai after relocating from India based on their job offer. I was still under probation.

During my employment, the following occurred:

I was informed that I needed to resign due to a “conflict of interest” related to my personal relationship (my boyfriend works in the same industry). This was not mentioned in my contract or during onboarding.

In addition, I was told not only to distance myself from my boyfriend but also from my friend circle. This was specifically because two individuals I was in contact with were former employees of the same company, and my broader social circle also works in the same industry. I was asked to cut ties with these individuals if I wanted to continue employment.

During the same conversation, statements were made about the labour authority process (MOHRE), including claims about strong personal connections and prior experience in handling cases. This was mentioned in the context of the discussion around resignation and signing documents.

I was repeatedly told on multiple occasions that I should move to a residential accommodation where most employees of the company are staying, even after I clearly declined. I was also told that I should either comply or resign.

I was informed that I would be signing an “NOC document.” However, when I was given the paperwork, it turned out to be employment visa cancellation and termination documents instead.

I signed these documents under pressure, with the understanding that I would not be able to join another company or receive my final settlement unless I signed.

I have recorded evidence and written communication related to these interactions.

My questions are:

In a free zone setup like JAFZA/Dubai South, what legal framework applies in such cases?

Does signing termination/visa cancellation documents under misrepresentation or pressure affect their validity?

Could this be considered forced resignation or unfair/constructive dismissal under UAE labour law?

What legal remedies or compensation claims are realistically possible in such cases?

What is the correct authority or legal route to approach?

I am trying to understand my legal position and whether this situation has any actionable basis under UAE law.

Any advice from lawyers or people with relevant experience would be greatly appreciated.
